After finishing his work at school, Darby would clock in at Walmart around 10 p.m. and work overnight shifts stocking shelves — sometimes until 7 in the morning.

And the money he earned? He gave it away. Darby used his Walmart paychecks to help students and their families with food, rent, utilities and other essentials.
On some days, he was reportedly operating on just a couple of hours of sleep. Eventually, people discovered what he was doing and his story went viral. Walmart later donated $50,000 to his school after learning why he had taken the job. He was already spending his days trying to help students succeed. Then he gave up his nights to make sure some of them could simply get by.
