ZON A ROLL Mo Salah ‘set to be reunited with Liverpool flop’ as Trabzonspor working on transfer for £400k-a-week striker

MO SALAH could be joined by a familiar face at Trabzonspor with the Turkish club reportedly working on another ambitious deal.

Salah, 34, penned a two-year contract worth about £360,000 a week to join the side that finished third in the Turkish Super Lig last season.

And the challengers’ spending spree looks set to continue.

According to The i Paper, Trabzonspor are keen to reunite Salah with his ex-Liverpool team-mate, Darwin Nunez.

The Uruguayan earns about £400,000 a week at Al-Hilal but was chucked out of their Saudi Pro League squad when Karim Benzema joined in February.

Nunez, 27, was only eligible to play in the AFC Champions League Elite from then on, and he finished the campaign with a modest nine goals in 24 games.

Reports in Turkey state that Trabzonspor are ‘increasing the pressure’ in their pursuit of the centre-forward.

Al-Hilal, who splashed £46million on Nunez last year, could let him go for as little as £17m.

Tottenham have also been keeping tabs on the cut-price star but have not made a formal offer.

Nunez failed to catch fire at Liverpool, scoring just 40 goals in 143 games after what was then a club-record £85m move from Benfica in 2022.

But at that point he was one of the hottest properties on the market following a 34-goal campaign in Portugal.

Nunez spent three years as Salah’s team-mate and could become one of a few figures recognisable to Premier League fans in the Trabzonspor ranks.

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has joined on a second season-long loan, while ex-Manchester City defender Stefan Savic and former Evertonian John Lundstram have both played for the Trabzon side since 2024.

Ex-Southampton giant Paul Onuachu was the joint top scorer in the league last season with 22 goals but risks being frozen out at Trabzonspor if Nunez takes his place up top.
