Megyn Kelly calls for compassion and prayers toward Erika Kirk and Charlie Kirk’s family during Tyler Robinson hearing.
After publicly forgiving her husband Charlie Kirk’s alleged killer during his memorial service, Erika Kirk recently came face-to-face with Tyler Robinson during a court hearing.
As the mother of two appeared in court for legal proceedings, commentator Megyn Kelly urged social media users to have sympathy for the 37-year-old and to keep the family in their prayers.
Sharing a clip from her podcast, Kelly urged users on X, “I really, really, wish the people who have doubts about Erika Kirk would just keep them quiet this week.”
“Whether you like her or you don’t like her, hopefully the human inside of you can see how difficult this is for her and the family… It’s just beyond human what is being asked of the family,” she says.
Netizens React to Megyn Kelly’s Request
Megyn Kelly’s request came after Erika Kirk faced her husband’s alleged killer, Tyler Robinson, in court for a hearing in Utah on Monday. However, her plea was met with backlash.
One user wrote, “Begging Twitter users to have basic human empathy during a major political crisis is like asking a pack of wolves to try a vegan diet.”
Another user wrote, “I thought you were better than this. Who are you pandering to? You can’t talk like this and call yourself a friend of Charlie Kirk. You can’t have it both ways.”
A third tweeted, “Thanks Megyn, but no thanks. She had over 9 months to come out and set the allegations of growing documented lies against her to bed. All while keeping on lying. We do not support her.”
Another wrote, “This is not about liking or disliking world’s most cheerful widow! This is about what’s right before your eyes yet you refuse to see it!”
An X user commented, “I’m disappointed in u. No one wants to harass Erika Kirk. Those of us that do have hearts and souls. We just see that she’s a liar.”
Erika Kirk and Tyler Robinson Face Scrutiny
Erika Kirk came face-to-face with Tyler Robinson, the man accused of killing her husband, Charlie Kirk, for the first time in court on Monday as the hearing began in Utah.
Prosecutors have presented evidence against Robinson as the hearing is expected to continue throughout the week to determine whether the 23-year-old should stand trial. Robinson has not entered a plea, and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.
As Robinson’s case moves forward, the 37-year-old widow attended the hearing nearly 10 months after her husband’s assassination. Back then, Mrs. Kirk publicly said she forgave the alleged gunman during her late husband’s memorial service.
“I forgive him. I forgive him because it was what Christ did… The answer to hate is not hate. The answer we know from the Gospel is love and always love. Love for our enemies and love for those who persecute us,” the mother of two said.
After Mrs. Kirk stunned the world with her forgiving message, she became Turning Point USA’s chief executive and inherited his million-dollar fortune within weeks of Charlie Kirk’s demise. The developments drew public scrutiny.
As the 37-year-old assumed leadership of Turning Point USA, commentators questioned her grief, motives, and public role, sparking conspiracy theories, though no evidence has been presented to support claims of any wrongdoing.
Now, as Mrs. Kirk faces Robinson for the first time in court, she has also come under scrutiny as the case unfolds.
