On Tuesday, the singer shared a health update on Instagram and explained when he expects to resume his shows.
“I thought you should know that I recently received a kidney transplant from a very kind and generous living donor,” the music icon wrote.
“It happened a couple of weeks ago, and I’m already starting to feel better. It was, according to my doctors, a complete success!”
Daryl assured fans that he’ll be back to performing again, but it won’t be for “a few months.”

His followers flooded the comments with prayers and hopes for a swift recovery as they awaited his return to the stage.
Daryl has been performing as a solo artist since he split from his longtime musical partner, John Oates, 78, in 2024.
The pair comprised the mega-popular 70s pop/rock band, Hall & Oates, and had been making music together for 50 years before parting ways.
Daryl revealed the band’s break-up in a May 2024 interview with Variety, saying their issues stemmed from John abruptly selling his half of the jointly owned company, Whole Oats Enterprises.
John sold his half without his bandmate’s consent, which Daryl said, “hit me by surprise.”
“I don’t know, man — all I can say is people change, and sometimes you don’t really know someone like you thought you did,” he told the outlet.
“Difficulties can be made from things that aren’t difficult, and then it goes to a place where it can never come back from.
“It’s unfortunate and untimely, but some things just change.”

Daryl confirmed that the band is no more and said he and John had been distant for a while.
“I haven’t had a creative relationship with John for at least 25 years,” the Can’t Go For That singer said.
“We didn’t write songs together; we didn’t do anything together except perform live shows.”
“We had an arrangement that I couldn’t play my solo songs onstage with Hall & Oates — and now I get to,” he added.
It became clear that there was tension behind the scenes in November 2023, when Daryl filed a lawsuit against John in Nashville.
