Marjorie Taylor Greene Scoffs at Trump’s ‘Absurd’ Attacks on ‘Talented’ Taylor Swift, Says He Wishes He Could Draw the Same Crowds
“I think it’s absolutely absurd for the 80-year-old president of the United States to attack one of the most popular musicians and talented women,” Greene said on ‘The View’
Former Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene came to the defense of newlywed Taylor Swift during an appearance on The View on Tuesday, July 7, after the latest attacks on the pop star by President Donald Trump.
Swift, who tied the knot with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce on Friday, July 3, at New York’s Madison Square Garden, has long drawn the president’s ire for endorsing Democrats, including Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.
“First of all, congratulations to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. I thought it was fantastic,” Greene said of the wedding on the ABC talk show. “I think it’s absolutely absurd for the 80-year-old president of the United States to attack one of the most popular musicians and talented women who’s so generous to her staff and takes care of them.”

“But he thinks he’s more popular than her,” The View co-host Joy Behar interjected.
“I think that’s why he’s always picking on her because he would like to be,” the regretful former Trump supporter replied. “Her concerts turn out massive amounts of people, more so than, tragically, [Trump’s Great American State Fair]” in Washington, D.C.

On Monday, July 6, Trump mentioned Swift out of the blue during an Oval Office event as he bragged about the support he receives from wealthy tech tycoons like Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos.
Fielding a question about the so-called “Trump Accounts” — new investment accounts that parents can establish for American children that the Treasury Department and major corporations have partnered to help fund — Trump boasted that some of the country’s wealthiest men skipped his first inauguration, but “every one of them was standing behind me” at his second inauguration.
“I speak to all of them, and I encourage them. I want them to be tremendously successful. Now there’s a thing called TikTok, have you heard of it?” Trump said. “It was announced about two days ago, the new numbers just came out. You know who the number one person in TikTok is by far? Trump, me. I just got the — I’m number one, like Taylor Swift was number 11. I’m number one in TikTok, by far.”

The day before, on Sunday, July 5, Trump shared on Truth Social a belated birthday message from TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew who provided “the latest numbers of the President on TikTok,” including “all-time views of #Trump TikToks are now 425 billion.”
The post featured a graphic that declared him the “#1 MOST FOLLOWED and WATCHED world leader on TikTok.”
If accurate, those numbers would include all TikTok posts with “#Trump” since its debut in September 2016, nine years ago. The graphic made no reference to Swift, who is notably not a world leader.

Trump’s TikTok account has 16.7 million followers. Swift’s account has 33.5 million followers. Neither is among the top 50 most followed accounts on the app, according to Social Blade.
Over the Fourth of July weekend, as massive billboards outside of Madison Square Garden blared “JUST&T MARRIED,” referencing Taylor and Travis, the White House posted on X a photoshopped version that read “Trump is your president.”
Last year, Trump falsely claimed Swift was “practically booed out of the stadium” at the Super Bowl between Kelce’s Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. When the Eagles came to the White House in April 2025 after their win, Trump took a swipe at Swift’s attendance, asking, “How did that work out?”
After Swift endorsed Harris in the 2024 election, Trump kept his response simple in a Sept. 15, 2024, Truth Social post: “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”
