Man City stars show off their funny side in hilarious meme challenge
It seems Semenyo enjoyed this format the most.
Manchester City stars have shown their funny side after Tijjani Reijnders, Antoine Semenyo, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Nico Gonzalez took on a hilarious challenge to recreate some of the club’s most popular memes.
The quartet appeared in a video shared on Manchester City’s social media accounts, where they attempted to imitate moments involving their own teammates that had previously gone viral online.
Ryan Cherki and Erling Haaland were among those who received the meme treatment, with the players recreating some of their most recognisable moments.
Reijnders and Semenyo were arguably the stars of the show, appearing in several different scenes and fully embracing their roles. Rather than simply copying the moments, the two appeared to put plenty of personality into their performances, making the video even more entertaining.
It was a lighter moment for a Manchester City squad that has spent much of the summer adapting to significant changes. After Guardiola’s departure, Maresca has taken charge and is preparing to implement his own ideas ahead of the new season.
Their preparations began with a 1-1 draw against Inter Milan in Hong Kong on August 1, with Inter eventually winning 3-1 on penalties.
City then travelled to Seoul, where they faced Team K League on August 5 and secured a 3-1 victory.
Their final pre-season game came against Atletico Madrid on August 9. Maresca’s side ended the tour on a positive note, beating Diego Simeone’s team 3-1.
With the three games now completed, Manchester City can turn their full attention towards the start of the competitive season.
The first major test of the new era will come against Arsenal in the Community Shield, which will give Maresca his first opportunity to lead City in an official match on August 16.
City can now focus on the new season, but the players clearly know how to have fun too. Reijnders and Semenyo especially looked like they enjoyed the meme challenge.
