Baby was born the same day Messi turned 39, and her dad named her “Messia” in the hospital room
Elías had spent years dreaming of that moment. And when it arrived, he couldn’t help himself.
His daughter was born on June 24 at 17:35 at the Maternal and Children’s Hospital of Mar del Plata — exactly the day Lionel Messi turned 39. The delivery had been expected for the previous week, but it was delayed without anyone planning it.
When Elías saw the date on the clock, he came up with something no document could erase: changing the name they had already chosen. From the gurney, he suggested to Brisa that they call her Ainhoa Messia Aguilar. The other mothers hospitalized in the room heard it, and they all said yes.

Brisa admits that at first it seemed strange to her. But together they looked up the meaning: “Messia” comes from Hebrew and means “the anointed one”. That ended up convincing her.
The baby weighed 3,125 kilos and came into the world with a name that is, at the same time, a love story for soccer and a gift for life. Now the family has only one wish: that the story reaches Messi.
