A Landlord Kicked an Old Woman Out — Until 40 Hells Angels Parked Outside His Front Office
Martha Higgins, an 80-year-old woman with arthritis, had lived in a rented apartment for over 30 years and always paid her rent on time.
After the building was acquired by a real estate company, the new online payment system malfunctioned, causing her rent to be three days late.
Claiming it as a breach of contract, the manager, Richard Caldwell, had her evicted and immediately replaced the locks. She only managed to grab a few boxes of belongings, medicine, and family mementos before being thrown onto the sidewalk.
With nowhere else to go, Martha called Tommy “Timber” Graham, a man she had taken in years before when he was a runaway 16-year-old boy who had been abused.
At that time, Martha had given Tommy shelter, food, and maternal care.
Now, Tommy was the leader of a motorcycle gang. Hearing that Martha had been evicted, he immediately went to the real estate management company’s office with about 40 other members.
They didn’t vandalize or threaten. Tommy calmly told Richard that if the company didn’t rectify its mistakes, the group would legally stand outside the office every day, nearly paralyzing the company’s business.
After consideration, Richard agreed to cancel the eviction, waived all fees, accepted six months’ rent in cash, and signed a new 10-year lease at the same price.

The contract also allowed Martha to continue paying by check instead of online.
Tommy and the others escorted Martha back to her apartment, carried all her belongings up to the fourth floor, and rearranged everything.
Before leaving, Tommy gave Martha the keys and the new contract, telling her to call him anytime if she encountered any further problems. Martha hugged Tommy and thanked him, but he simply said:
“You don’t need to thank me. We have to take care of those who have taken care of us.”
Martha returned to her apartment and brewed a cup of tea in her familiar old cup. For the first time in years, she no longer lived in fear of being evicted by her landlord.
